Local Restaurant Review: Gabby’s Burgers & Fries

I’ve always said it’s the hole-in-the-wall places that generally have the best food.

And that’s definitely what this place is.

A hole. in. the. wall.

I likely would have never found this place were it not for Groupon. And even then, I almost passed it by without a second thought until my husband actually read the description and discovered they serve grass-fed burgers.

THAT caught my attention!

And boy, did they turn out to be DELICIOUS grass-fed burgers!

Seamus Burger at Gabby's

I’ve done a review of another grass-fed burger joint, Burger Up, that opened a few months after I discovered Gabby’s. Burger Up has fantastic burgers as well, but if you’re looking for affordability without compromising mouth-watering deliciousness, Gabby’s is the way to go.

The owner is no stranger to the restaurant business, but after spending all his time working–away from his wife and kids–he realized he wasn’t really living the dream that he expected.

So he opened a burger joint with low overhead (hence the hole-in-the-wall building) and he decided to set his own rules.

So they are only open for lunch during the week and dinner on Friday. Their website doesn’t tell you, but I recently learned they are also open for lunch on Saturdays now as well.

When you visit Gabby’s, named after the owner’s daughter, I hope you have the privilege of meeting the man himself. He never lacks a funny comment or witty expression. It might be worth it to visit just to have a little conversation with the owner.

Then of course comes the dilemma of what to eat! You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

The obvious choice is a standard Best Burger or classic cheeseburger-dubbed the Seamus (after the owner’s younger son). And you just can’t go wrong at $5.75 and $6.30 respectively. That price even includes a side!

The best side, in my opinion?

Sweet potato fries!

Sweet Potato Fries at Gabby's

One of my favorite foods on the face of the planet (alongside lima beans and goat cheese…but not together…)

I like mine without the added sugar (or they are a bit too sweet for me).

If you live in the Nashville area (or even if you are just passing through) this is a must-eat place!
