The thought crossed my mind to come back the next day.
And next week too.
After checking out their website, I was quite impressed with their credo:
We make delicious, nourishing, wholesome food with love and care from the purest and highest quality ingredients available to us. We search for and buy local, organic, sustainably produced, minimally manipulated food.
I had never been to this area of East Nashville before, but was so glad for the chance to check it out. So much character! So many wonderful bungalow houses to drool over!
Parking proved to be a bit challenging, but we found a slot on a side road across from the restaurant. Because there were only 5 tables in the entire place, we waited for a table with our friends next door at Ugly Mugs coffee shop.
Once we were seated, then came the challenge of making a decision. Luckily, our friends had been there before and could recommend some really tasty dishes.
We (unintentionally) ended up with the signature Citrus Mint Ginger Green Tea. Definitely a wonderful mistake. I highly recommend it. It was so fresh and sweetened with nothing but a bit of honey.
Their list of local farms was quite impressive….
We started the meal with a cheese plate.
Granted, this was not your everyday cheese plate.
There were 4 kinds of raw cheeses (aged Cheddar, Asiago Peppercorn, St. Jerome and one other I can’t recall), 2 goat cheeses (one with a pesto sauce and the other with some sort of delectable chili sauce), almonds, Granny Smith apples, balsamic and toast.
The goose I’m married to and I split 2 dishes for lunch-and they were even so kind as to plate them for us as such!
We shared the Mexico City Couscous (Red Chili couscous, grilled chicken, poblano peppers, cilantro, goat cheese, mango and lime juice) and the Sparky Wrap (turkey breast, basil aioli, dried cranberries, brie, roasted walnuts and baby greens in a spinach wrap and then toasted).
And we couldn’t very well leave without trying some homemade ice cream (made with cream from raw milk)!
We opted for the sampler (Because variety is the spice of life! Or something like that….) From left to right, we had: Ethiopian Coffee Cinnamon, Carrot Ginger, Honey Beet and (my favorite) Lemon Goat Cheese. The Lemon Goat Cheese tasted just like Lemon Meringue Pie!
Our bill wasn’t exorbitant either. For our meals, tea and ice cream we paid just over $30.
